Working in & around Birmingham …
At the heart of the West Midlands, Brum or Birmingham is in many ways the countries second city (at least in terms of population, according to Wikipedia!). Birmingham during the Industrial Revolution was known as "the workshop of the world". Birmingham today is working to be known as the national centre for commerce and many high tech sectors have established themselves here including web design. At the heart of the emerging web design community is Multipack, a small group of developers & designers interested in discussing the latest issues and news from the industry, which I enjoy being part of.
Web design in Birmingham is beginning to become very established, with many agencies establishing a name for themselves and is often a good alternative to the more expensive London based design agencies. It is rapidly competing with the likes of London and Manchester as the creative capitol of the UK. The creative centre for Birmingham is around the Jewelery Quarter, nationally infamous for its creative jewelers and many online creative agencies have also located in this area.
With the Bull Ring at its heart, Birmingham is a major retail destination to rival Blue Water, The Trafford Centre, which places a high demand for a comparative shopping experience within an online store to enable high street retailers to compete not only on the high street but also online.
With many larger and national clients being located in Birmingham, I am often working in and around the area from multi-national companies to many small-medium sized enterprises. I am often traveling through Birmingham to either get to other clients around the UK and London.
